NO BALL GAMES at the Golden Thread Gallery Project Space: Christopher James Burns' installation is intelligently conceived and beautifully balanced. Appearing as a landscape architecture of found objects, the furniture and pipes are arranged like the composition of a surrealist masterpiece. The potatoes supporting the different elements combine the organic and manmade worlds in a perfect harmony, offering poetic resonance. The lightbulb in the vertical drawer glows, almost as a beacon of hope as the religious statue looks inwards, drawing the viewer's gaze downwards as we imagine ourselves hypnotised by the allure of this light, transfixed by its radiating warm aura, shrinking down in size we wander enthusiastically into this strange world....haunting and alluring.
