Artist statement/gallery statements/or comments
Alice Burns is an Artist she lives and works in Northern Ireland. Her recent solo exhibition “Loci of Memory” was made possible by the support of Ards Borough Council and The Arts and Disability Forum. She received a first class, BA (Hons), Fine and Applied Arts Degree from the University of Ulster Belfast, in 2010, and a Postgraduate Diploma; Art in Public in 2012.

My art practice develops out of participatory narratives, other peoples’ stories combined with a desire to play creatively with the material of the ‘archive’ developing experimental and interactive ways of re-presenting artifact and narrative materials. Connections can be made, entangled and disentangled as the audience engages and re-threads their particular narrative. Via a process of dialogue and interaction the transaction between the story giver and artist is woven into encoded objects that represent the unspoken or the unspeakable.

Alice,

We're just getting the hot glass studio up and running, so we haven't really organized anything like that yet. We're currently doing an architectural project that will use literally thousands of blown glass elements, so there will be a lot of furnace activity in July. Maybe you can drop by the studio some time then and see the facilities?
